THIS WEEKEND IN: BEIRUT
In case you didn’t know, Badaro now has its own design hotel. The Smallville, which opened in summer, is a 117-room, 39-suite property, complete with its own stylish restaurant, The Social. This new Badaro addition is set to rejuvenate Beirut’s classic mid-century neighborhood. thesmallville.com
Cupcake fans rejoice: Magnolia Bakery (left) just opened inside ABC Ashrafieh. The new American sweet shop carries Magnolia’s celebrated cupcakes, of course, in addition to muffins, cheesecakes and cookies. For heartier fare, try Prune (right), a new bistro in Mar Mikhael serving such dishes as mussels with fries and chicken with plums.
If you sampled Magnolia Bakery’s decadent cupcakes on Saturday, burn it all off by joining the Beirut Marathon on Sunday, November 10. There are a number of races scheduled, beginning at 6:50am (Special Needs), 7am (42K) and 9am (10K Fun Race), among others. All races start at BIEL in Downtown Beirut. beirutmarathon.org
