THIS WEEKEND IN: ANTWERP
Known as Belgium’s capital of cool, Antwerp is home to a number of fashion designers and art lovers that have transformed the city into a hipster shopping heaven. Seven Rooms, built on the site of Walter Van Beirendonck’s former concept store, carries fashion by Prabal Gurung, Ostwald Helgason, JW Anderson, Bouchra Jarrar and other ultra-trendy labels.
Hip shoe label WeberHodelFeder was founded in 2012 by Matthias Weber, Niklaus Hodel and Florian Feder, three graduates of Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Their men’s and women’s models are sold at Coccodrillo in Antwerp, and at Opening Ceremony stores.
Ever heard of Stephan Schneider? Another graduate from Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts, German-born Schneider designs each piece of fabric for his eponymous fashion label and cuts every silhouette himself. His clothing brand for men and women is produced in Belgium.
