WANG SCARES US
Alexander Wang has launched the new campaign for his fall/winter 2015 collection, and it’s terrifying (in a good way). The artsy horror movie tone is set by the synchronized moves of models, dancers, and real-life couple Aya and Bambi, who are featured in the video below. (The duo also appeared in Madonna’s most recent music video earlier this summer, along with Alexander Wang.)
Wang said for the campaign he was thinking of “women that come alive at night” — and the tone of the campaign has something of a criminal/vampire-like feel. It’s all black and white, shot apparently in an empty warehouse.
Wang extended the campaign to Instagram, where the designer released a series of videos hashtagged #secretshame, featuring models speak about their “secret shames” — their faces obscured, their voices disguised like criminals. The effect is voyeuristic and alluring, like a sexy episode of Law and Order Special Victims Unit. We’re unsettled — and we’re hooked.
