TRILOGY OF TWO
Lebanese designer and author Juman Malouf, girlfriend of the director Wes Anderson, has written a new novel called The Trilogy of Two.
“It’s quite powerful to be from nowhere,” Malouf told the New York Times Style Magazine, alluding to her own background — Beirut born, raised in Saudi and the UK, and educated in the US. She now lives between Paris and New York City with the director Wes Anderson
Her new book, aimed at middle schoolers, is a kind of steampunk mix of Victorian and futuristic influences.
Publishers Weekly had kind words for The Trilogy of Two, saying “Fans of Mieville’s Un Lun Dun will enjoy debut author Malouf’s intricate worlds, each teeming with its own customs and creatures, as well as her equally intricate pencil illustrations, which highlight the characters’ eccentricities … themes of sisterhood and believing in oneself will entrance readers.”
