The biggest event of the summer is the 55th Venice Biennial. Showcasing contemporary art from across the globe, the Biennial opens to the public today. With backing from Elham and Tony Salamé, the Biennial showcases 88 national pavilions as well as art installations and exhibitions along every canal. Runs until November 24.

Today Louis Vuitton launches its Venice cultural center – the sixth one that the French fashion house opens worldwide, coinciding with the start of the Venice Biennial. Espace Louis Vuitton’s first show (“Where Should Othello Go?”) revolves around the work of Pompeo Molmenti. Runs until November 24.
