THIS WEEKEND IN: BEIRUT
One of the great things about living in Beirut is that you’re always just minutes away from a luxurious beach resort. And now, at the end of the August, the crowds at the most popular beach haunts have already started to thin out, so you can easily have a corner of seaside paradise all to yourself. This summer’s favorite spots are Ain el Mreisseh’s La Plage (left) and Jiyeh’s Lazy B (right).
Beirut’s hotel rooftops are a wonderful place to watch the sun set over the Mediterranean, or to sip artisan cocktails while reveling in Lebanon’s sultry summer nights. Head to Le Gray’s Cherry on the Rooftop (left) and to the Roof at Four Seasons (right).
The Baalbeck International Festival has moved to the magnificent Magnanerie silk factory in Sid al Baouchriyeh this year, just north of Beirut. A festival highlight is Marcel Khalifé’s concert this Saturday, August 24. Catch the famed Lebanese composer, singer and oud player as he performs his most beloved tunes. baalbeck.org.lb
