THE NO-MAKEUP MOVEMENT
Book your facial appointments now, because this season, going bare-faced is the ultimate status symbol.
During the Marc Jacobs show for the spring/summer 2015 collection, models strutted their stuff down runways wearing black wigs and something surprising on their faces: no makeup at all. Models for Stella McCartney and Chloé wore next to nothing on their faces.
At first glance, the no or lo-makeup trend might seem fantastically low-maintenance. But on closer inspection, it requires a great deal of effort. Because it’s not just about bare skin. It’s about perfect skin.
As anyone who’s ever existed inside a human body can tell you, perfect skin is not always easy to come by. Even for the genetically-blessed among us, the onset of a stressful period, a change in environment, menstrual cycle, or strong wind can bring pimples. In the year 2015, someone who can pull off the no makeup trend isn’t just taking a break from her morning routing. She’s telling the world: look, world, I have nothing to hide. I have good genes. I drink plenty of water. I get plenty of rest. And I have the perfect skin to prove it.
