THE AISHTI FOUNDATION ACROSS THE GLOBE
The Aïshti Foundation, slated to open in Lebanon in 2014, will be the most important contemporary art center in the Middle East. In the meantime, the extensive collection is circulating the globe, to ensure that contemporary art lovers across the world are getting their art fix. Currently on show at Minneapolis’ Midway Contemporary Art Museum is Willem de Rooij’s “Silver to Gold” (2009).
The MUMOK Moderner Kunst Stiftung in Vienna is showing a retrospective of work by German contemporary artist Albert Oehlen. The exhibition includes “I 22” (2012), which will return to Beirut later this year.
Two stunning works by Tauba Auerbach, from her series “Fold” (2011), have been travelling across Norway, Sweden and Belgium as part of the traveling exhibition “Tetrachromat.” The works are now at the WIELS Contemprary Art Center in Brussels.
