SHAPING CITIES THROUGH ART AND DESIGN
Free your afternoon next Thursday, February 23, for we’re preparing an event not to be missed. Aïshti Foundation and Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation are pleased to invite you to “Shaping Cities Through Art and Design,” a panel discussion on the critical role of architecture and art in shaping the design of cities, under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghattas Khoury.
The event will be held at the Aïshti Foundation at 6:00 pm. After that, international artist Dahn Vo will unveil his groundbreaking new work, Untitled, at 7:30. A cocktail reception will follow.
Architects, designers, curators, critics and journalists from the US, Europe, UAE and Lebanon will discuss the critical role of architecture and art in shaping the design of cities, in Beirut and around the world. The panel will be led by Amale Andraos (Dean, Columbia GSAPP, co-founder of WORKac), Barry Bergdoll (MOMA / Columbia), William Sawaya (Sawaya & Moroni), Nicolai Ouroussoff (Columbia GSAPP /Former architecture critic for The New York Times), Hanan Sayed Worrell (Guggenheim Abu Dhabi), Julian Rose (Formlessfinder / Columbia GSAPP), Hala Warde (HW Architecture / Ateliers Jean Nouvel), Karen Chekerdjian (designer at Karen Chekerdjian) and Tony Salamé, founder of the Aïshti Foundation.
