SALONE DEL MOBILE 2016 IS HERE
The show, also known as “Salone”, “Milano Salone”, and “Milan Design Week” is held annually around April and is spread all over the city. It is considered a leading venue in showcasing the latest products in furniture and design from all around the world and this year features more than 2,400 exhibitors.
Ermenegildo Zegna, the leading luxury menswear brand in Italy collaborated with San Patrignan, a community and home for those afflicted by dependencies or social exclusion. Together they presented Adam & Eve a chest designed by the architect Peter Marino.
Melissa the famous plastic footwear brand set up a lounge in the Fuori Saloni. The sitting area right in front of the Melissa Showroom on Via Forcella 13, a space to celebrate fashion, art and design during Milan’s design week.
Etro invited young talents from a range of disciplines to participate in their project, Circle of Poets. The Etro home boutique in Via Pontaccio was transformed into a workshop telling the story of exclusive design projects carried out in collaboration between Etro and the poets.
Camper blurred the line between shoe and object. They presented the Kobarah, a shoe made from a single mold that wraps around the foot creating a silhouette humorously close to that of a water slide, just in time for summer!
LOEWE’s creative director J.W.Anderson conceived a collection of furniture pieces and home objects for the ‘Leather Marquetry Project’. Adapted from archival prints, the recurring motifs which are created in leather decorate early 20th-century furniture pieces selected by Anderson himself.
