LONDON FOOD DESTINATION: RED ROOSTER
New York chef Marcus Samuelsson just opened his first London restaurant inside The Curtain hotel in Shoreditch. Samuelsson’s original Red Rooster in Harlem is a New York institution, offering a contemporary take on classic dishes from the American South.
For the London outpost, Samuelsson stays true to his New York restaurant’s Southern roots, but also enhances the menu with ingredients and dishes inspired by Shoreditch’s multicultural vibe. Menu highlights include buttermilk- and coconut-milk-fried chicken, plus Helga’s meatballs, named after the Ethiopian-Swedish chef’s grandmother, and the decadent chicken and waffles served with maple syrup. It’s hearty fare – and like nothing you’ve ever tried before.
