Nour Najem re-appropriates elements from Arabic architecture and style in her latest collection, released with the help of Starch.
Ribbon figures strongly in the new collection, which was handcrafted by women from disadvantaged backgrounds as part of Najem’s NGO, the Kenzah Foundation.
Najem says it’s her goal to encourage people to remember and embrace their Arab heritage. She incorporates design elements into all of her garments — whether looking to tiles, Arabic mashrabiya, or Yemeni men for inspiration.
Najem’s collection is on view at Starch in Saifi Village.
