NOBUYOSHI ARAKI SHOOTS FOR BOTTEGA VENETA
Legendary Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki has lent his unique brand of poignancy to Bottega Veneta’s new spring/summer 2015 campaign. This is not the first time that creative director Tomas Maier has revealed his love for Japan; last month, he launched a campaign to save Japan’s rapidly disappearing Modernism Architecture.
Renowned for his controversial images of women, Araki is one of Japan’s most famous photographers.
Araki’s images of bound women have raised fierce debates on whether they classify as art or pornography. However, many argue that the photographer is simply continuing Japan’s age-old obsession with sexually-charged imagery while simultaneously exposing the country’s cultural double standards.
