COFFEE AND BIKES
Here’s something to add to the must-visit-in-Beirut lists you send to your foreigner friends, or even locals who aren’t in-the-know: The Bike Kitchen. Launched yesterday by CyclingCircle, this new café opened in Furn El Shebak, an up-and-coming neighborhood.
A pit stop for all bike lovers, coffee lovers, or those who just want to find a new den to work from, it’s both a bicycle shop with bikes and accessories, and a cosy coffeehouse with a vibrant, relaxed vibe for hanging out.
So, what exactly does it offer?
In their cycling section, you can find Scott bikes of all genres for sale or rent, along with vintage city bikes (the word vintage thrills you, stop lying to yourself) and second hand bikes, as well as tools and accessories. If you want to get down and dirty, you can also take your bike to the maintenance corner, for on-site repairs, tuning or self-care techniques, and even riding tips. Talk about Pimp-my-Bike.
There are also activities for all bike enthusiasts to enjoy, such as top-notch bicycle delivery services, parking racks for guests, cycling movie screenings (think The Bicycle Thieves), workshops and awareness sessions.
As far as coffee goes, try their espresso with a taqa bar. They also serve organic smoothies and pressed juices, soups, salads, light bites and more.
