THE LONG-AWAITED LUMI RELEASE
A look at the past, a step into the future. In this story, we are brought back to the bittersweet post-war music scene.
It all began almost ten years ago, at a time when the local music scene flourished to counter the melancholic resonance of war.
Marc Codsi and Mayaline Hage came together to form Lumi, a groundbreaking alternative/electronic rock band whose songs became anthems of the Lebanese underground. They also helped them rock their European tour which saw them performing at international festivals such as Barcelona’s Sonar.
The band took a four-year hiatus, but such talent could not be wasted away. The pair got back together following a chance encounter involving a flat tire (the things destiny does sometimes, right?) and started exploring new territory with a more vulnerable and danceable electronic sound.
Finally, after several years of exploration, the band’s sophomore album The Night Was A Liar (Studio Keeward, 2017) will first be released in Lebanon on Sunday, April 30 at KED, followed by a worldwide release and a European promo tour. It was recorded at Thee Mighty Hotel2Tango in Montreal under the watchful eyes of producer Radwan Moumneh (Jerusalem in my Heart) and with the help of SUUNS’ Liam O’Neil.
The band has already released one buzz track, Talk To You, and is releasing a long-awaited video for the album’s first official single: My Love, shot on a starry, freezing night in Horsh Beirut.
Aïshti Blog hacked their database and stole some exclusive behind the scenes pictures, shot by the uber-talented Myriam Boulos (we might be kidding about the hacking part).
