LEBANESE STARTUP HITS ITS FUNDING GOAL IN ONE DAY
A Lebanese startup hits its crowdfunding goal of $20,000, in less than 24 hours. Yes, it’s not just any kind of sandal.
Maku is a startup company that designs all day everyday unisex sandals; launched their crowd-funding Kickstarter campaign on 14 September and succeeded to raise 20,000 US Dollars in less than a day.
Founded by three local entrepreneurs, William Choukeir, Hanane Kai and David Al Achkar. After being 5 years in the making and 37 tries, the team finally had it right and came out with the Maku- a unique 3-strap sustainable design, created to be everyone’s must-have footwear. Made from soft boating fibers to resist saltwater, sun, scratches, and are very comfortable that one would want to walk in and travel with all day long.
“Our passion led us on a quest to track down some of the best materials and manufacturers in the world. We accepted nothing less than unmatched comfort, exceptional durability, and real versatility. Out of this (somewhat obsessive) journey was born the Maku sandals you see today,” the team stated on their campaign.
Maku now ships worldwide and has FREE shipping within the US at Maku.com.
