JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT AT ACQUAVELLA GALLERIES
Jean-Michel Basquiat first rose to notoriety as part of an informal graffiti gang in downtown New York during the late ’70s. Fast forward five years and the artist was producing his most acclaimed work, even collaborating with Andy Warhol on a piece entitled Olympic Rings. While his life was cut tragically short after a heroin overdose at the age of 27, Basquiat’s legacy lives on through tributes in art, hip hop music, film and literature. The Acquavella Gallery will be showing work from the Schorr Family Collection. Runs until June 13.
