Zaha Hadid 1950-2016
It is with great sadness that Zaha Hadid Architects have confirmed yesterday that Dame Zaha Hadid died from a heart attack on March 31, 2016 in Miami after being treated for bronchitis earlier this week.
This news has shocked many in the architectural community as well as people who are passionate about her designs. Zaha was able to touch many through her architecture which will remain ever standing, reminding the world of her unparalleled talent.
Zaha have managed to reach the young generation through her inspirational teaching style and advice that resonate amongst her students.
On her role as master, teaching at the Institute of Architecture in Vienna:
“I don’t think you can teach architecture. You can only inspire people.”

– The first woman to receive the Royal Institute of British Architects (Riba) Gold Medal
– In 1979 she set up her own company – Zaha Hadid Architects.
– Projects and Designs are spread around several countries as Hong Kong, Germany, Azerbaijan and London.
– Most recognized creations of Zaha Hadid :
o Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London
o The Riverside Museum at Glasgow’s Museum of Transport
o Guangzhou Opera House in China
The ongoing project, which is currently under construction at Beirut Souks, is under the unique architectural design of Zaha Hadid Architects. The department store which will consist of five levels, will offer many luxury brand stores and restaurants.
