GUCCI: THE ALCHEMIST’S GARDEN
Oh, the shimmer! This was Alessandro Michele’s glitteriest Gucci collection yet! For Gucci’s first combined men’s and women’s runway show, described as “an anti-modern laboratory”, Mr. Michele raised the set design bar really, really high. The colors, the references, the set, the clothes, the models, the music. What can we say? Thank you Mr. Michele?
As soon as the purple-lit show space had finished being filled with A-listers (such as Tom Hiddleston, Florence Welch, A$AP Rocky…), a curtain was pulled back to reveal a central pyramid with a rooster weather vane on top, surrounded by a glass-enclosed runway. And let’s not get started with the music – just watch the full show ASAP.
Naturally, Michele didn’t stop at that. For his Fall 2017 collection, he collaborated with photographer Capitán on shirts and accessories that featured her signature word prints. For example, you could find “Common sense is not that common” on some pieces. She also took over Gucci’s Instagram stories.
The intergalactic prints, the logos, the vibrant florals, the small insects, outer space illustrations, the piercings, the headwear, the parasols… Everything is Gucci! Can’t complain.
Thanks again, Mr. Michele, you are mad genius.
