FRIEZE DON’T MOVE
A look at what happened during Frieze London and Frieze Masters, which ran October 14-18.
Chinese artist Xu Qu stood out with the series Currency Wars at the Almine Rech Gallery of London (seen above). Another exhibition, Newcomers, critiqued the studied voyeurism of interior design photography of celebrity homes.
Artnet.com reported the following big sales from the Frieze Masters, a sister art fair of older artworks:
Milan’s Cardi Gallery sold Weiße Spirale by Günther Uecker for €2 million.
David Zwirner sold Bridget Riley’s Vapour 3 (2009/1970) for $1.4 Million
Tomasso Brothers Fine Art sold Roman, 2nd Century AD Marble head of Dionysus (2nd century AD) for around £500,000 ($772,824).
Dominique Levy sold a Chung Sang-hwa work, 87-12-7 (1987), for $540,000.
