DISCO GOES BANANAS
You’ve heard of it, you’ve been, you danced, you saw the lights flashing in your eyes.
Discotek was born this past winter and has become the talk of the town, gathering a versatile crowd of people who just want to put on their dancing shoes and forget themselves every Friday night. We stole some of Discotek’s main men and women away from their busy schedules to ask them a few questions about the party everybody is talking about.
What is the concept behind Discotek?
Discotek is a clubbing concept born to recreate the golden days of disco clubs worldwide. The design is rooted in reinterpreting the classic disco aesthetic for the future. It’s about bringing glamour to the dance floor and just letting go.
Tell us about the Discotek lineup
The musical selections of our main resident Romax revolves around classic and nu-disco, funk and house. Local artists are invited on a weekly basis to add to the whole musical journey and the occasional international artist is also added to the mix to shake up the floor with fresh beats.
What are your future plans?
The plan is to export this homegrown concept worldwide. No details can be revealed at the moment but stay tuned as we want the Lebanese disco vibe to spread.
Can you tell about your uber-wild parties on Wednesday nights?
DiscoBanana is a term that is going to be on everyone’s lips very soon. A new concept night with the purpose of releasing your inner “party animal”. An overall jungle with customized large scale wild props, offering the perfect setting for seven unique shows performed by various international acrobats, singers, dancers and specialty acts. Our resident DJs, Romax and Djette, will be spearheading the grooves, to the sounds of disco, funk, and other genres from the Discotek repertoire. These shows re-invent themselves every 3 weeks, with full-on costumes, and we highly encourage people to come dressed as well… #DiscoBanana is on every Wednesday all summer long.
Stay tuned for more surprises to come!
