IN DEPTH: SARA BATTAGLIA
With Giovanna Battaglia (fashion director of Vogue Gioiello and Pelle) as a sister, and a modeling stint with Dolce and Gabbana at the age of 16, it may not seem surprising that Sara Battaglia’s bags have been spotted in the hands of fashion cognoscenti all around the world.
A designer who grew up eating, sleeping and breathing art – her mother is a sculptor, and her two brothers are, respectively, an art dealer and a set designer – Battaglia has earned her creative stripes with collection after collection of notice-me-now clutches that would make even Lady Gaga jealous. After creating her first handbag at the age of six from scraps she collected at her mother’s atelier, Battaglia fine-tuned her skills at the fashion house Corto Moltedo before launching her eponymous brand.
Only two years on from the inauguration of the Sara Battaglia label, there have been countless collaborations with brands such as Swarovski and Moncler, while her bags now available around the world. This is one star that promises to burn bright.
