IN DEPTH: JEREMY SCOTT
The bad boy of fashion and creative director of Moschino, Jeremy Scott has traveled far since his childhood in Kansas City, Missouri.
After gaining a fashion design degree from the prestigious Pratt Institute, Scott showed his first, rather unusual, collection in Paris (it mostly consisted of paper hospital gowns). Since capturing the attention of the international fashion community in 1998, he has subsequently been nominated for “Best Young Designer” by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and joined Italian fashion house Moschino as creative director.
True to his flamboyant character, he has also dressed the drama queen of muppets, Miss Piggy, fueled rumors of a fashion collaboration with Kanye West after saying they “sometimes talk on the phone for hours,” and received Karl Lagerfeld’s approval after Lagerfeld claimed that Scott was the only designer who’d be able to successfully succeed him at Chanel.
One thing’s for sure: Scott’s definitely not in Kansas anymore.
