Meet the newest addition to Los Angeles’s cultural attractions: The Broad, a modern art museum offering free admission.
The museum was built by billionaire philanthropist Eli Broad and his wife Edythe.
Work on display includes pieces by Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha, Keith Haring, Cindy Sherman and Chris Burden.
“We want this to be a gift to the city of Los Angeles,” Eli Broad told NPR. He and his wife have been collecting art for over four decades; now, “We wanted to share it with the broadest possible public…. That’s why we have free admission.”
The Broad is open to the public starting this Sunday.
