BARBARA KRUGER AT SKARSTEDT LONDON
Large-scale black-and-white photographs, emblazoned with provocative captions, demand attention at American artist Barbara Kruger’s exhibition,”Barbara Kruger: Early Works,” at the Skarstedt Gallery in London. Famous for her layered photographs that explore concepts of gender and identity, Kruger’s work became famous in the ’70s as she was grouped with other feminist postmodern artists like Jenny Holzer and Cindy Sherman. Runs until April 11.
“In my work I try to question the seemingly natural appearance of images through the textual commentary which accompanies them.” – Barbara Kruger
