BALENCIAGA IN THE SPOTLIGHT
The retrospective is finally here!
Dubbed by Christian Dior as “the master of us all”, Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga has always been somewhat of a recluse – but not anymore. The retrospective Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion, which opened a few days ago at the Victoria & Albert Museum and is running until February 18, 2018, revolves around the work of the Spanish “master” in the 50s and 60s.
The retrospective is showcasing over 100 garments and 20 hats, as well as films, crafts, drawings and photographs, crafted by Balenciaga himself in addition to his protégées and contemporary fashion designers. With the brand’s current success, the timing couldn’t be better.
