A WILD, WILD AUCTION
Last night, Christie’s auction, organized by the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, a wildlife conservation charity, brought in an impressive $31.7 million. Thirteen new artist records were set, with many works doubling their pre-sale high estimates. In total, 33 contemporary works were sold, many of them depicting tigers, in keeping with the wildlife theme. The works sold included Robert Longo’s untitled artwork depicting a tiger (pictured here).
