A WELL-DESERVED WIN
Last night, during the Fashion Awards 2016 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Creative Director Alessandro Michele won the title of International Accessories Designer, presented by Jared Leto, face of Gucci Guilty and a loyal member of the Gucci-by-Michele club.
President and CEO Marco Bizzarri also received an award for International Business Leader from Kering Chairman and CEO Francois-Henri Pinault.
Salma Hayek Pinault and Jared Leto were dressed in Gucci, as always. Jaden and Willow Smith were also in top-to-bottom Gucci, and both won the New Fashion Icon award.
It has been a good two years since Michele took Gucci by storm. The brand has become a celebrity favorite, worn by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and countless others.
But how did he do it?
Let’s not forget that Alessandro Michele has been working at Gucci since 2002. He climbed his way up to head of accessories, and got to closely witness different eras such as Tom Ford’s and Frida Giannini’s Gucci worlds.
Michele single-handedly changed Gucci’s entire image while respecting its DNA; a tough task indeed. Through his storytelling, he made Gucci relatable, accessible, poetic and endearing. We can now dive into the raw atmosphere of the house, and we all want a piece of it.
His persona also helped, making the brand even more significant to a wider range of people. His laid-back style, usually opting for white tshirts and blue jeans, is never complete without at least ten rings on.
Everyone wants of piece of Michele’s Gucci.
