A DAY IN THE PARK WITH NOUR AND MARTHA
Nour Arida started out as a sales associate with Aïshti in 2012 and moved on to become a brand manager, before deciding to set up her blog, N for Nour. She is now one of the most widely followed bloggers in Lebanon, and has to date garnered over 71,000 followers on Instagram. Brazilian blogger and restaurateur Martha Graeff provides her readers with fashion and tourist tips from her travels all over the world. Martha was a model, stylist, and buyer for Harvey Nichols before setting up her blog.
Nour talks to Aïshti about how the collaboration came together, the inspiration behind each look and her personal favourite outfit.
How did the collaboration between you and Martha Graeff happen?
I have been a fan of Martha for quite some time now. When I knew that she was in Lebanon, I sent her an email asking to meet her and checking if she’d be interested in some sort of collaboration. In the meantime, and coincidently, someone talked to her about me when she asked about bloggers in Lebanon. So we got in contact and we clicked instantaneously. Apart from work and blogging, we really got close; we’re like sisters now! So we thought why not?
Where is this amusement park and why did you decide to shoot there?
It’s the Freij amusement park, in Dora, next to CityMall. It was actually Martha’s idea! We wanted a place where we could have fun and play around, not somewhere very serious and raw. We wanted colors and positivity, which is the message behind this shoot.
Who did the styling for this shoot?
The outfits were styled by us and selected from Aïshti and Aïzone stores.
Could you tell us a little bit about the different themes/trends in each picture?
We decided to work on 4 majors trends. So you’ll notice that in each picture of Martha and I, we are featuring a different theme:
The Romantics: We wanted to feature the soft side in us with the floral print and the loose cuts. Martha wore a white dress by Alberta Ferretti, and I wore a dress by Giambattista Valli.
The Chic Rock ‘n’ Roll: One of our favorite trends. It was all about black, leather and tuxedos. We were both in full Saint Laurent outfits.
Lace (guipure): We have seen this texture for a while now and I think that it is here to stay. We were both in Alexis dresses.
Androgynous Tailoring: As time goes by this trend is definitely making strides. So, masculine cuts, colours and attitude. I was in a Helmut Lang Overall, and Martha in a Rag & Bone suit.
Which was your favourite look and why?
It’s really hard to say, because we really chose pieces and themes that look like us. But if I were to only pick one I would say the masculine look. It’s a trend that I adore more and more everyday. I think that every woman has this masculine side in her that she should embrace and let out. Plus, it’s one of the most comfortable one!
Are there similar collaborations happening soon?
I hope so. The purpose of this whole collaboration was to show people that there is no need for hate or hypocrisy in this fashion world. There’s a place for everyone! So why not?
