DIOR’S NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
On Wednesday at the Valentino Spring 2016 couture collection Maria Grazia Chiuri — the co-creative director of Valentino — took her bow at her final Valentino show. Maria Grazia Chiuri has been officially named new artistic director of Dior following Raff Simons who announced his departure in October 2015.
After a creative relationship with Pierpaolo Piccioli that lasted more than two decades and the transformation the design duo achieved at Valentino, Chiuri’s role will be her first solo appointment. She also makes history as the first woman in the 69 years of Dior to be at the helm.
Ms. Chiuri will be in charge of the Dior haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessory collections, unveiling her first collection in September during the women’s ready-to-wear season.
